UK-based fintech Revolut obtains authorisation to operate as banking entity in Peru, marking its Latin American expansion

por | abr 1, 2026 | 0 Comentários

UK-based fintech Revolut has obtained authorisation to establish itself as a banking entity in Peru, marking a significant step in its expansion across Latin America. The licence allows the company to move beyond offering limited financial services and instead operate as a fully regulated bank in the country.

This development forms part of Revolut’s broader regional strategy, as it continues to target high-growth markets with large underbanked populations. Peru is seen as particularly attractive due to increasing digital adoption and demand for accessible financial services. With this move, Revolut aims to introduce a wide range of products, including accounts, payments, transfers and other digital banking services tailored to local users.

The company has also emphasised its intention to build a long-term, locally rooted business, rather than simply entering the market opportunistically. Its entry is expected to boost competition in Peru’s financial sector, potentially driving innovation and improving financial inclusion.

Overall, the licence represents a key milestone in Revolut’s international growth, positioning it to become a major digital banking player in Peru and strengthening its presence in Latin America.
