The stake is dated: analysts place the earliest plausible generic entry around <strong>late 2028<\/strong>, with the estate&#8217;s stronger patents running into the 2030s. The duel&#8217;s historical record favours challengers more often than not \u2014 and a settlement, with a licensed entry date, is the commonest ending of all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The prize, sized<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The numbers explain the queue. Tirzepatide \u2014 sold as Mounjaro for diabetes and Zepbound for obesity \u2014 earned Lilly around $16 billion in 2024 and has grown at a pace that put it on course for the summit of the global sales table: the drug that turned a hundred-year-old Indianapolis company into the most valuable healthcare business in history, on the strength of a single molecule the world cannot buy enough of. One of them, it turns out, is Catalan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Spanish runner<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Galenicum is a Barcelona group of the type Catalonia&#8217;s pharmaceutical cluster produces \u2014 active-ingredient and generic-development businesses that supply the world&#8217;s copy-drug makers with the chemistry and the dossiers behind their launches \u2014 and this Report notes it as the latest specimen of a sector the masthead has under-covered: <strong>Catalonia&#8217;s pharma corridor<\/strong> (Grifols in plasma, Almirall and Esteve in specialty medicines, a constellation of API and generics firms behind them) is one of Europe&#8217;s densest life-sciences clusters and a genuine anglosphere exporter, its plants and filings pointed at the US market above all. A Catalan firm in the Mounjaro queue is the cluster doing what it exists to do, at the largest scale it has ever attempted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The honest ledger<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The counterweights, at full weight. <strong>A lawsuit is the first round, not a verdict<\/strong> \u2014 these cases run years, and the likeliest outcome is a negotiated entry date rather than a courtroom win. <strong>Galenicum is one runner among many<\/strong> \u2014 the title says &#8220;takes on,&#8221; which is true; it does not say &#8220;alone,&#8221; which would not be. <strong>Lilly&#8217;s estate is formidable<\/strong> \u2014 the compound patent alone runs deep into the next decade, and the challengers&#8217; historical win rate applies to weaker estates than this one. <strong>The details are the Spanish press&#8217;s<\/strong> \u2014 the filing&#8217;s specifics, the patents cited, Galenicum&#8217;s own account, all graded as they publish.
